189. Bacteremia among COVID-19 and Non-Covid-19 Patients Admitted in the ICU

Abstract Background The aim of this work were to investigate the rate and aetiology bloodstream infection collected from COVID non-COVID patients admitted in ICU Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted on PCR Covid-19 positive 20th March 30th April 2020. Corresponding data same period 2019 all consecutive retrospectively reviewed for presence microbiologically documented infections at least 8 hours after admission. All mechanical ventilation, or some point during their admission required ventilation. Results We identified a total 19 (38%) BSIs COVID-19 group 10 (12%) BSI non-COVID-19 (p=0,8). had an increased probability develop ICU-BSI, median days as opposed 6 group. Patients comparable terms age, APACHE II score. Out CoVID-19 patients, 14 (73%) male vs 5 (50%) non-CoVID-19 (p=0.0007). ICU-acquired mostly due multi-drug-resistant pathogens. Clinical outcomes significantly different between with CoVid-19 7(37% ) 2(20%)in BSI- pneumonia (p=0.02). Conclusion Our findings emphasize that although incidence slightly impact overall outcome worse. Consequently, it is important pay attention bacterial superinfections critical COVID-19.
